Our Club, (which is a Charter Standard Community club) and a registered charity is based in Wigan and is the Wigan Athletic link club. We are the largest junior football club in our area, providing football for children with a wide range of abilities We have forged string links with both our local schools, (where some of our coaches are involved. in running the school teams) and our local community organisations. We are proud to have been elected to the Billinge, Highfield and Winstanley township forum along with active members of the Highfield/Winstanley community network.

    Some History

Cherrybrook FC is a recently formed football club by a group of parents who decided that they wished to see a different approach to children's football. In the past, some clubs have seemed to be dominated by managers shouting criticism at the children, arguing with referees and falling out with opposition supporters, whilst the children were overlooked and we felt that this was not the right example or approach. We are one of the top clubs in the behaviour and sportsmanships tables, for our players, officials and supporters alike in the leagues in which we participate and more than this we have been able to prove, that our approach of encouraging and assisting players need not be detrimental to success. (see our club history). Our successful apptoach has seen us grow from our small beginning to be one of the largest junior football clubs in Wigan.

The first team which was formed in 2007 went on to win the Highfield Grange silver Jubilee tournament and from this, the cherrybrook club was formed with firstly an under 9's team, followed by an under 7's. The club now has at the last count over 40 representative teams at various levels from under 6 to Open age.

The teams currently play in the Skem league, St helens, Bolton and Bury, Wigan and District, Salford, cheshire league, wigan amateur and the Warrington League. Club training takes place at the soccerdome on a tuesday evening between 5:00 and 6:00 to which all the squads are invited.

Despite only forming in 2007 the club has already developed excellent relations with a number of premiership clubs including Manchester United, Bolton, Blackburn, Burnley, Manchester City, Wigan Athletic, Everton and Liverpool and a large number of cherrybrook players attend their academies. (see club news). We strongly believe in the concept that every child should be given the opportunity to develop to their full potential, even if this is, at times, is detrimental to our club.

All children are welcome at our club and every child (and their parents) will be given an opportunity to develop their game and enjoy the comradeship, friendships and social aspects of team sports.

If you child would like to play football for our club then please contact us using the CONTACT US link at the bottom of the toolbar
